Long before it was a ski resort, Les Gets was a farming village, and it still has farms and other rural industries operating alongside tourism. The village altitude is 1172m, while the highest accessible peak is at 2002m; on a clear day you can see the breathtaking outline of the Mont Blanc range.
The resort has a good range of slopes to suit beginners and more advanced skiers. Les Gets is part of the Portes de Soleil ski area that groups together 14 resorts in France and Switzerland, comprising more than 200 lifts and 650km of ski runs. You really can have breakfast in France, lunch in Switzerland, and be back at La Ferme des Amis for an aperitif.

There is a great choice of ski schools and private instructors in Les Gets. In addition to those listed on www.lesgets.com, we can recommend two British-run companies, the British Alpine Ski School, www.britishskischool.com and for private tuition and small groups, Les Gets Snowsports, www.skischool.co.uk.
